Edu-Pack to Renew Effort to Assist Needy Students

Edu-Pack, an Atlanta-based relief organisation, will renew its effort to assist needy students in Jamaica this year, by providing well needed school supplies, through its ongoing outreach programme.
To raise funds to finance its programme, Edu-Pack recently staged its annual Edu-Pack Valentine Gala and Fund-raiser in Atlanta, Georgia, in the United States.
The organisation delivers backpacks of school supplies to poor children throughout 11 countries in CARICOM and Latin America, such as the Bahamas, Haiti, Dominican Republic, Jamaica, Trinidad and Tobago, Guyana, Honduras, Guatemala, Belize, Mexico, Costa Rica, and the United States.
Since its establishment in 1998, Edu-Pack has delivered over 50,000 backpacks of school supplies to students in the region. Last year 13,000backpacks were donated to school children.
This year’s event was held at the Metropolitan Club in Alpharetta, Georgia, sponsored by Salem Communications radio stations WNIV, WGKA and WAFS.
So far, Edu-Pack has delivered over 9,000 backpacks to needy children in Kingston, Manchester, Clarendon and other parishes.
Jamaica’s Honorary Consul in Atlanta, Vin Martin, who was honoured by the organisation, lauded the efforts of Edu-Pack for assisting needy students in Jamaica.
He expressed appreciation for Edu-Pack’s commitment to education and the upliftment of the youth.
