The Full Story

The Electoral Commission of Jamaica (ECJ) is in the final stages of drafting a report on the issue of campaign funding for political parties, Chairman, Professor Errol Miller, has disclosed.
Speaking at a briefing at the ECJ’s New Kingston offices on Wednesday (Feb. 4), Professor Miller said work on a draft report had been undertaken, following a series of town meetings and consultations held islandwide.
He said that the efforts were complemented by a conference, which featured participants from international organisations providing inputs on matters such as best practices in other countries.
“We are in the final stages of completing that report. I understand that 90 per cent of the wording is agreed (on), and we would hope that, in a relatively short time, that report will also be going to Parliament,” he stated.
