The Full Story

Tax Administration Jamaica (TAJ) is advising its customers that due to the country’s Local Government Elections on Monday, February 26, 2024, all Tax Offices and the Stamp Duty and Transfer Tax office will close to the public at 12:00 p.m.

Business locations however, will close at 1:00 p.m.

The closures are to facilitate TAJ personnel exercising their right to vote.

Persons may opt to avoid a Tax Office visit entirely by conducting several transactions online at www.jamaicatax.gov.jm, to include payment for Driver’s Licence Renewal, Fitness Certificate, Traffic Ticket, business-related taxes and deductions and Property Tax, as well as electronically querying Property Tax liabilities.

Additionally, persons may make use of the Saturday operating hours this weekend February 24, 2024 at select locations, namely: St. Andrew, Portmore, Savanna-la-mar, St. Ann’s Bay and Montego Bay Tax Offices. Regular business hours will resume on Tuesday, February 27, 2024 (8:30 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.)

Customers may also avail themselves of a suite of online payment options, which includes via the TAJ Direct Funds Transfer process for business-related tax payments.

These are in addition to customers being able to make payments via the Tax Authority’s website www.jamaicatax.gov.jm using a credit card, or other banking card with credit card features or using the Scotiabank’s electronic funds transfer via TAJ’s website.

Additionally, taxpayers can utilize Scotia Online and Mobile App, as well as being able to make tax payments via the National Commercial Bank, as the respective clientele are able to use their online banking platforms by adding TAJ as a Payee.

For further information, persons may call the Tax Administration Customer Care Centre at 888-TAX-HELP (888-829-4357) or visit the website www.jamaicatax.gov.jm.
