The Full Story

Tax Administration Jamaica (TAJ) wishes to advise the public that the printing of Driver’s Licences at the May Pen Tax Office is suspended until further notice. This change has become necessary due to a hardware issue with the driver’s licence printers, which continues to impact the twenty (20) day turnaround time in which driver’s licence applications are processed, resulting in significantly lengthy service delays.

This means that processing of Driver Licence applications will not be done at the May Pen location; licences slated for printing there will be done offsite and returned to the Tax Office for pickup. However, customers still have the option to have their Driver’s Licence application processed at the Tax Office, but are cautioned that the turn-around time will be affected.

Taxpayers are reminded that the payment for the renewal of a Driver’s Licence can be done online, via TAJ’s website at www.jamaicatax.gov.jm. Additionally, the following documents must be submitted to any Tax Office to complete their transaction:

  • Printed copy of their receipt
  • Completed “Application for Driver’s Licence Transactions” (Form F7)
  • Passport sized photograph of the applicant (no less than 6 months and not certified)
  • Copy of the expired/current Driver’s Licence (if available)

Please note that persons are not required to join a line to drop off their documents.

TAJ apologises for the inconvenience caused as it continues to monitor the situation at its May Pen location, and work with its service provider for a resolution of the matter.

Persons may contact the TAJ Customer Care Centre at 888-Tax-Help (888-829-4357) toll-free for further information or assistance.
