Minister of State in the Ministry of Housing, Transport, Water and Works, Dr. Fenton Ferguson has expressed satisfaction with the results of various projects undertaken to rehabilitate and implement water systems in a number of parishes.
Speaking with JIS News following a tour of National Water Commission (NWC) water systems in South East St. Catherine on Friday (Oct. 13), Dr. Ferguson said the aim of the tour was to see first hand the difficulties that the residents and the NWC were facing in the development of such systems, and to find a solution to the problem.
He noted that in the community of Retreat in western Westmoreland funds had been identified for the Sheffield water supply system. “We have started delivering pipes for that project and that is expected to be of major significance in resolving the problems of people in Retreat, Sheffield, Kings Valley, Grange Hill and other areas,” Dr. Ferguson explained.
The State Minister noted that the tours, which also included areas of West Portland were, “part of a fact finding thrust and I am ensuring that my visits are solution oriented”.
