Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade, Hon. Dr. Kenneth Baugh departed the island yesterday (Wednesday) for Havana, Cuba to participate in the Third CARICOM Cuba Meeting of Foreign Ministers scheduled for Friday, September 17.

The Honourable Roosevelt Skerrit, Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Commonwealth of Dominica, and Chairman of the Council for Foreign and Community Relations (COFCOR), and the Honourable Bruno Rodriguez Parrilla, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Cuba, will co-chair the meeting.
The meeting’s agenda is expected to focus on topics such as: Integration and Political Coordination in Latin America and the Caribbean, the situation in Haiti and CARICOM/Cuba Relations.
The CARICOM-Cuba Ministerial Meetings were established under the Havana Declaration adopted by the Heads of Government of CARICOM and Cuba at the First CARICOM-Cuba Summit held in Havana, Cuba on 8 December 2002. They continue the tradition of cooperation in the economic, social, cultural and technical spheres.
These ongoing areas of cooperation include: the CARICOM/Cuba Scholarship Programme for Physical Education and Sports, Accounting, Natural Science, Humanities, Economy, Special Education and Health and Medicine, Disaster Relief and Energy Saving.
