The 2024 staging of the Denbigh Agricultural, Industrial and Food Show, which has been dubbed ‘Denbigh 70’, will showcase the plethora of investment opportunities in the agricultural sector.
Acting Chief Executive Officer of the Jamaica Agricultural Society (JAS), Derron Grant, said the event will provide crucial information for business creation and expansion.
“We will be pitching the agriculture prospectus to showcase to the Jamaican public that investment in agriculture is as viable as any other [industry] in the island,” Mr. Grant said, while addressing the recent launch of the event at Hi-Pro Ace Supercentre in White Marl, St. Catherine.
He said that Agro-Investment Corporation (AIC) will be on hand to provide information about lands that are available for production, and extension officers from the Rural Agricultural Development Authority (RADA) will give tips on how to manage successful ventures.
“The Dairy Development Board has committed to show how Jamaicans can invest in the small ruminant sector and the cattle industry; they are ripe for production and investment,” Mr. Grant pointed out.
In addition, he said that the Tourism Enhancement Fund (TEF) will highlight opportunities for farmers to supply the hospitality industry.
Denbigh 2024 is scheduled to take place from August 4 to 6, at the Denbigh Showground in Clarendon under the theme ‘Investment Opportunities in Agriculture – The New FACE of Food… Grow What We Eat and Eat What We Grow’.
Mr. Grant said that patrons attending the event will be able to interact with representatives from agricultural agencies and suppliers in the industry.
“This event provides the perfect platform for patrons to be exposed to modern trends and advancements and services within the agricultural sector and related industries. Denbigh 70 promises to be educational, and entertaining,” Mr. Grant said.
