The Ministry of Science, Energy and Technology (MSET) will launch a cyber-security awareness campaign in July.

The public-education campaign will seek to inform about the dangers online and highlight safe practices to adopt while using the Internet.

Minister of  Science, Energy and Technology,  Dr. the Hon. Andrew Wheatley, addressing a JIS ‘Think Tank’ on June 22, said the goal of the campaign is “to increase the awareness of Jamaicans regarding the risks associated with internet usage”.

Campaign messages will be transmitted through the media, including text messages and social media.

Dr. Wheatley said there will also be presentations at Community Access Points (CAPs), and posters will be placed at internet kiosks and libraries.

He also pointed out that the campaign will be undertaken in collaboration with some financial institutions.
