The Forum Bridge, located on the Port Henderson Road in Portmore, St. Catherine, is to be rehabilitated at a cost of $27 million.

The contract was signed today (Sept. 2) for the six-month project, which is expected to commence next week.

Quality Henderson Plus Contracting Company will be undertaking the works, with the National Works Agency (NWA) as the implementing body.

Addressing the signing ceremony held at Jewels Resort International in Portmore, State Minister for Transport, Works and Housing, Hon. Richard Azan, appealed for cooperation from residents during the construction phase.

He informed that traffic will be restricted to one way during peak hours and residents will be required to use a detour road.

“We are asking for cooperation and for the contractors to be able to complete the work on time,” he said.

The six-month project will include  sand blasting, repair of bridge steel structure, repairs to steel girder, replacement of bridge bearing pads, scour protection works, and base and pavement reconstruction.

Acting Mayor of Portmore, Councillor Leon Thomas, and Member of Parliament for South East St. Catherine, Hon. Colin Fagan welcomed the project.
