Contract for Boscobel Greenfield Project approved

KINGSTON – Cabinet has approved a contract to carry out works under the Boscobel Greenfield Project in St. Mary.
The project will be constructed by NF Barnes Construction and Equipment Company Limited, at a cost of just over $800 million, and includes the construction of 99 two-bedroom units and associated infrastructure for 258 lots.
It adjoins the Boscobel Brownfield Project of the Housing Agency of Jamaica (HAJ), and is close to the Ian Flemming international airport, Minister with responsibility for Information, Telecommunications and Special Projects, Hon. Daryl Vaz, told Wednesday’s March 30 Post Cabinet press briefing at Jamaica House.
Cabinet has also approved a contract, costing $50 million, for the supply of pipe material and apparatus for the Monymusk Water Supply Scheme. The contractor is Derrick Gibson Limited. When completed, the system will serve some 25, 000 persons in Lionel Town, and adjoining districts in Clarendon.
In St. James, infrastructure works is to be carried out under Phase II of the Providence Heights (Flanker) project by Alcar Construction and Haulage Limited, through a $157.6 million contract approved by Cabinet on March 14.
“The Housing Agency of Jamaica was given responsibility for improving the physical infrastructure in a number of North Coast communities, including Providence Heights, under provisions made by the Tourism Enhancement Fund, for the rehabilitation of squatter settlements in resort areas,” Mr. Vaz explained.
The work includes construction of new roads, rehabilitation of existing roads and footpaths, installation of curb and channel storm water drain system and water supply and retaining walls.
