Cabinet has awarded a contract for US$7.2 million to undertake improvement work to the water supply systems serving the Kingston Metropolitan Area (KMA).

Minister with responsibility for Information, Senator the Hon. Sandrea Falconer, told a post-Cabinet press briefing at the Montego Bay Convention Centre on June 17 that the US$7,235,646 contract has been awarded to Deryck Gibson Limited.

Included in the contract is the procurement of 50,000 solid state cold water meters and 25,000 brass valves.

The Minister pointed out that the contract has a 12-month timeline.
