The Full Story

Congresswoman Maxine Waters, Ranking Member of the United States House of Representatives Committee on Finance who was invited by Prime Minister, the Most Hon. Portia Simpson Miller as special guest for Jamaica’s 52nd Independence celebrations, will no longer be able to join us as planned.

This is due to the sudden and untimely death of a key member of her political staff which understandably demands her presence in her home state of California at this time.

The Office of the Prime Minister regrets these unexpected and sad circumstances which are beyond anyone’s control.

The Government of Jamaica extends condolences to Congresswoman Waters and to the bereaved family on the passing of their loved one.
