A book of condolence for the late Jamaican folklorist and cultural icon, Louise Bennett Coverley (Miss Lou), will be opened next week at the Jamaican High Commission in London.
The book will be opened on Tuesday, August 8 and Wednesday, August 9 and persons can sign between the hours of 10: 00 a.m. to 4: 00 p.m.
Meanwhile, there will be a special tribute to Miss Lou at the annual Independence service of praise and thanksgiving to be held at St. Martin in the Fields in Trafalgar Square on Saturday, August 5 starting at 11:00 a.m.
Miss Lou died at Scarborough Grace Hospital in Toronto, Canada on July 26. She was 86 years old. The government has accorded an official funeral for Miss Lou at a date to be announced.
The news of Miss Lou’s passing has been described as a great loss by the Jamaican community in the United Kingdom.
