Condolence Book for Easton Douglas opens Sept. 17, 2018

A condolence book for former Cabinet Minister and Member of Parliament, Hon. Easton Douglas, OJ, CD, will be opened from Monday, September 17 to Wednesday,  September 19, at the National Housing Trust (NHT), 4 Park Boulevard, Kingston 5.  The book will be placed in the lobby of the NHT for signing from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. daily. 

Signing of condolence books will also be replicated in Jamaican Overseas Missions  in the United States of America (Washington, New York, Miami); Canada, (Toronto) and the United Kingdom (London), facilitated by the  Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade.

The Official Funeral for Mr. Douglas, who died on August 26, will be held at the St. Andrew Parish Church, Hagley Park Road on Thursday, September 20, starting at 10:00 a.m. Interment will follow at the St. Dorothy’s Anglican Church Cemetery, Old Harbour, St. Catherine.

Members of the Jamaica Constabulary Force (JCF) will provide ceremonial duties for the funeral.

The Officiating Clergy are:  Rt. Rev. Howard Gregory, Rt. Rev. Bishop Robert Thompson, Rev. Canon Sirrano Kitson, Rev. Mark Jones and Sister Andrea Taylor-Smith.

Mr. Douglas was Member of Parliament for South East St. Andrew from 1989 until 2002, when he retired. He served as Minister of Health; Public Service; and Environment and Housing.

He also had a long career in the public service, serving as Permanent Secretary in the Ministries of National Security and Housing in the late 1970s and 1980s. Prior to that, he worked as Government Town Planner.
