Companies Support JIS Outreach Project

The Full Story

KINGSTON — Corporate Jamaica has been very supportive of the outreach project of the Jamaica Information Service (JIS), with Sammy's Shoe Store, Leder Mode, Caribbean Broilers Limited, and MegaMart Wholesale Club being the latest to come on board.

The companies have willingly donated to the cause, after being approached for the first time since the agency adopted the Mount Olivet Boys' Home in Manchester, in December 2009. Their donations have made a big difference in the lives of the 30 boys at the home.

Since the adoption of the home, some companies  have provided on-going support, including Joseph's and Novelty Trading Company Limited (NTCL).

Chairperson of the Mount Olivet Boys' Home Committee, Joan Gayle, has expressed gratitude on behalf of the committee and the JIS team.  "A big thank you to those who have been there throughout. We could not have done it without their help. Words cannot express how grateful we are for these companies doing this for the boys," she  told  JIS News.

The donations were handed over to the boys by the JIS team, at a recently held Career Day at the home.

The companies supplied the boys with back to school items, including  school shoes from Sammy's, school bags from MegaMart, sports bags from Leder Mode, khaki uniforms from Joseph's, books  from NTCL, and chicken for the day's meal from Caribbean Broilers (CB Chicken).
