Minister of Justice, Hon. Delroy Chuck, is calling on community leaders to provide guidance to the country’s youth in order to steer them into positive behaviour and away from illicit activities.

The Minister, who was speaking at a sensitisation session on justice services at his Constant Spring Road office on Thursday (November 10), said too many young people are emulating dons and lotto scammers.

“Responsible leaders need to stand up for what is right and good in our society,” Minister Chuck said.

He told the gathering of teachers and justices of the peace (JP) that the Ministry is on a campaign to rid the society of indiscipline and brutish and coarse behaviours, and they will be required to play a key role in the process.

Schools and communities, Minister Chuck said, need people who can play their part in passing on positive values, and helping to build a society that can be passed on to the younger generation.

He urged “right-thinking members of the society” to now come forward and receive the appropriate training so that they can offer their services, in their communities, in restorative justice, among other areas.
