The Full Story

The Companies Office of Jamaica (COJ) has established a dedicated Digital Services Support Team to help customers navigate its growing range of online services.

Deputy Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and Director of Operations, Laurie-Ann Jackson, noted that the in house team is a critical component of the agency’s digital transformation strategy, ensuring users are properly onboarded and supported as more services transition online.

She was speaking during a Jamaica Information Service (JIS) ‘Think Tank’ on April 23.

Ms. Jackson explained that as more transactions move online, customers are now required to have a registered email address to access and complete services.

To support this transition, the COJ has established a team dedicated to guiding users through the process.

“Our Digital Services Support Team is dedicated to helping customers get set up on the platform, capture the required information, and provide assistance where there are challenges or technical difficulties,” the Deputy CEO said.

The team works directly with customers to facilitate account setup and ensure seamless use of the platform, particularly for individuals unfamiliar with digital processes.

Ms. Jackson noted that the introduction of the support unit comes amid a sharp increase in the number of persons utilising the COJ’s online services, such as business registrations, annual returns filing, and business name renewals and closures.

She added that the growing demand has also necessitated continuous upgrades to the agency’s technical infrastructure, with internal information technology (IT) teams working to expand system capacity and improve performance.

“Our developers and IT teams are constantly working to ensure that our systems can meet the increasing demand, as more persons take advantage of our online services,” Ms. Jackson further stated.

The Deputy CEO advised that additional features will be rolled out in the coming months to further expand online access.

These will include long form annual returns, the ability to add or remove company directors online, and the filing of returns for allotment of shares.

Ms. Jackson emphasised that the Digital Services Support Team will remain central as new services are introduced, ensuring customers can fully utilise the COJ’s expanding digital offerings.

She encourages businesses and individuals to take advantage of the support available, noting that the shift to online services is intended to improve efficiency and make interactions with the agency easier.

The establishment of the Digital Services Support Team underscores the COJ’s commitment to enhancing service delivery through technology while providing the necessary support to ensure a smooth transition for all users.
