A significant number of senior business executives and leaders say they now have a clearer understanding of the Jamaica Logistics Hub initiative, and how it can facilitate unprecedented growth and economic prosperity.

Speaking at a press briefing, held at the Office of the Prime Minister on January 29, Minister of Industry, Investment and Commerce, Hon. Anthony Hylton, said this is the feedback he has received from the private sector, following the two-day logistics hub symposium, which the Ministry held for local investors last week.

Mr. Hylton said the government anticipates building on the public-private sector links, which emerged from the forum.

He informed the Private Sector Organization of Jamaica (PSOJ) has in fact pledged its support for the hub initiative, describing it as a key pillar on which to build economic success.

Mr. Hylton said the Ministry, with the support of its agencies, particularly the Jamaica Business Development Corporation (JBDC), in partnership with the Jamaica Chamber of Commerce (JCC), will be taking this message to the people through mobile road shows in major population centres.

The Social Development Commission (SDC) will also play an important role in mobilising communities islandwide to learn more about the initiative.

The Minister expressed his appreciation to JCC President, Francis Kennedy, for his integral role in shoring up the support of the private sector. He pointed out that Mr. Kennedy had “caught the vision of the Jamaica logistics hub initiative, and the critical importance of promoting the concept to the international business community.”
