The Full Story

The Cannabis Licensing Authority (CLA) has donated more than 60 books to the Little Angels Early Childhood Centre in Kingston.

Among the items donated were popular children’s storybooks, Cinderella, Pinocchio, and The Ugly Duckling; colouring books, phonics, and other age-appropriate exercise books. Stationery items, such as crayons and glue, were also donated to the school.

The donation is a result of a book drive held among the staff of the CLA in recognition of the recent observance of Read Across Jamaica Day, which promotes reading and literacy across the island.

Speaking at the handover ceremony on May 20 at the institution, Chief Executive Officer (CEO), CLA, Farrah Blake, said the Authority was pleased to be contributing to the educational development of the children at the Little Angels Early Childhood Centre.

“We are delighted to support Little Angels Early Childhood Centre with this donation. Encouraging a love for reading at an early age is crucial for the development of our children, and we are proud to be a part of this initiative,” said Ms. Blake.

The donation of books was well received by the staff and children of the institution.

For her part, Principal, Rose Spence, thanked the CLA for the donation, noting that her students will benefit greatly from the many storybooks received.

“These books will make a significant impact on our students. Access to a variety of reading materials is essential for their growth and development, and we are incredibly grateful to the CLA for their generosity,” she said.

The book donation is part of the CLA’s mission to contribute to the growth of not only an industry but a nation, in keeping with its corporate social responsibility objectives.
