Christmas Treat for Children in St. Ann

December 7, 2005

The Full Story

Some 200 students of the St. Christopher School for the Deaf and the Edgehill School for Special Education in St. Ann, were presented with toys and other gift items at the annual Christmas treat sponsored by the Florida Caribbean Cruise Association (FCCA).
The gifts, including toys, hand games, basketballs and footballs, arrived on the ‘Voyager of the Seas’ cruise ship, which visits Jamaica fortnightly, and were handed out by the crew at the Island Village in Ocho Rios on Tuesday (Dec. 6).
Crew Activity Manager, Gina Rossi, told JIS News that the treat was organized annually by the FCAA, to show appreciation to its Caribbean partners.
“This is an excellent opportunity for us to give back to this community because we constantly get a lot from the people here when we come into the port as tourists and crew members, so it is indeed a great feeling to be sharing in this and especially giving with the children,” she said.
Joseph Falceto, Hotel Director for the vessel, wished the children a happy holiday and noted that it was always a pleasure to come and share with the young ones.
The Florida Caribbean Cruise Association is a non-profit trade organization, composed of 13 member lines operating more than 70 vessels in Florida, Caribbean and Mexican waters.
The FCCA seeks to build cooperative relationships with Caribbean destinations and develop partnership with every sector.
The annual Christmas treat is held in collaboration with the Jamaica Tourist Board (JTB).
