Chinese VP in Montego Bay for Civic Centre Groundbreaking, Today

Vice President of the People’s Republic of China, His Excellency Xi Jinping, arrived at the Sangster International Airport last night (Feb 13) for a visit to Montego Bay.
The Vice President, accompanied by his official party, was met by Minister of Transport and Works, The Hon. Mike Henry, Minister of Water and Housing, Dr. The Hon. Horace Chang, Minister of Tourism, The Hon. Edmund Bartlett, Minister of Energy, The Hon.Clive Mullings, Mayor of Montego Bay, His Worship, Councilor Charles Sinclair, and representatives of the tourism fraternity.
While in Montego Bay, he will hold discussions with Mayor Sinclair, who hosted him at a welcoming dinner, last night, where he was presented with the Key to the City.
Vice President Xi will also tour sections of St. James, including the Rose hall Great House.
His main assignment, during his visit to Montego Bay, will be to break ground for the landmark convention centre in Rose Hall today at 9.30 a.m. He will be joined by Prime Minister of Jamaica, Bruce Golding, Deputy Prime Minister, Dr. Kenneth Baugh and ministers of Government.
The visit of Vice President Xi is expected to enhance economic and bilateral relations between Jamaica and the People’s Republic of China.
