    Minister of Labour and Social Security, Pearnel Charles, has confirmed that Labour Day, which falls on May 23, will be celebrated on Monday, May 25, this year.
    In an interview with JIS news today (April 1), Mr. Charles explained that the Public General Holiday Schedule outlines that if a national holiday falls on a Saturday or Sunday, it must be recognised the following Monday.
    “Under the Holiday Public General Schedule, number four states clearly that the 23rd day of May being a Saturday, or in the case if it falls on a Sunday, the following Monday shall be recognised as the National Labour Day,” he said.
    He also pointed out that Emancipation Day, which falls on Saturday, August 1, will be celebrated on the following Monday, August 3.
