The venue for the Civil Service Long Service Awards ceremony has been shifted to the Indoor Sports Complex at Independence Park on Wednesday, November 22, beginning at 2:45 p.m. Some 355 civil servants will be honoured at the ceremony, which was originally scheduled for King’s House, but has been changed due to unstable weather conditions, which are expected over the island.
The civil servants, who are to be awarded the Jamaica Civil Service Long Service Medal, represent a wide cross section of civil servants who have given invaluable years of service to Jamaica.
Introduced in 1988, the Long Service Medal is awarded each year at a special ceremony to give official recognition to civil servants who have served at least 25 years in the civil service.
Governor-General, His Excellency the Most Honourable Professor Kenneth Hall, and Prime Minister, the Most Honourable Portia Simpson Miller, have been invited to participate in the proceedings.
The function will be held during the observance of Civil Service Week, which is scheduled for November 19-24.
