  • The 46th annual meeting of the Caribbean Development Bank’s (CDB) Board of Governors is underway at the Montego Bay Convention Centre in Rose Hall, St. James.

The 46th annual meeting of the Caribbean Development Bank’s (CDB) Board of Governors is underway at the Montego Bay Convention Centre in Rose Hall, St. James.

Heads of States, Ministers of Finance and High Level Representatives of 28 countries are meeting from May 16 to 19. The CDB will release its annual report which will provide an overview of the region’s economic development and sector performance.

The Bank will also host a series of seminars in keeping with this year’s theme: ‘Economic Transformation for Growth and Poverty Reduction’.

Topics are: ‘The Changing Nature of Poverty and Inequality in the Caribbean: New Issues, New Solutions’; ‘Micro, Small and Medium Enterprise Development in the Caribbean: Towards a New Frontier’, and ‘Towards Greater Efficiency: The Transformation of the Caribbean Maritime Port Services and Industry’.

The official opening ceremony will take place on Wednesday, May 18, beginning at 9:00 a.m. This will be followed by the seminar on: ‘The Changing Nature of Poverty and Inequalities in the Caribbean’. On Thursday, May 19 there will be a Governors Roundtable Discussion at 7:00 a.m., to be followed by the closing ceremony at 11:30 a.m. This will be followed by a press conference at 12:30 p.m.
