The school was built by Food for the Poor, as part of its Jamaica 50 Campaign, targeting the construction or upgrading of 50 early childhood institutions islandwide. New Free Hill Basic School Opened

Peter Phillips (left), symbolically break ground, at Norman Manley High School in St. Andrew, on Friday, November 20, to mark the commencement of construction work to build an additional classroom block, at a cost of $50 million.
