There is no truth to rumors being circulated of a case of Ebola in Jamaica.

In a statement a short while ago, Information Minister Senator Sandrea Falconer, who also chairs the National Response Monitoring Committee, said there is no case of anyone with the Ebola virus on the island. All precautionary and preparatory steps to prevent the Ebola virus reaching our  shores are being taken by the government.

The Minister has called on Jamaicans not to listen to such rumors but to be guided by the official information put out by the government. The spreading of misinformation is irresponsible and will only serve to cause unnecessary panic throughout the society at this time, the Minister said.
