Cabinet Receives Initiatives That Will Boost ICT Sector

Cabinet has received numerous initiatives that are being pursued to develop the Information and Communications Technology (ICT) sector with particular emphasis on the Business Process Outsourcing segment which is expected to create a significant number of jobs over a short period.
Speaking at a Post Cabinet Press Briefing yesterday (Sept. 14) at Jamaica House, Minister with responsibility for Information Daryl Vaz said the initiatives include the appointment of an ICT Ambassador, build-out of ICT space, establishment of a line of credit for the Business Process Outsourcing industry build-out, incentives for the ICT sector and specialized training and funding for the sector.
The Information Minister noted that the ICT sector has been designated as an important priority of the Ministry of Industry, Investment and Commerce.
