Cabinet has given approval for the acquisition of additional parcels of land from the Apple Tree Plaza to Jimbo's Gymnasium, along the main road from Chudleigh to Coleyville, Manchester.
Speaking at today's (February 23) post-Cabinet press briefing at Jamaica House, Minister with responsibility for Information, Telecommunications and Special Projects, Hon. Daryl Vaz informed that the lands would likely be needed for the construction of the Christiana Development Road, under the Jamaica Development Infrastructure Programme (JDIP).
The Minister said Cabinet also took note of the fact that the National Land Agency (NLA) would identify the number of additional parcels of land that may be required and would carry out the land acquisition on behalf of the Ministry of Transport and Works.
This would be done in accordance with Sections 3, 5, 9 and 12 of the Land Acquisition Act, Mr. Vaz explained.
