KINGSTON — Rehabilitation works on the Black River Market in St. Elizabeth will commence soon, following Cabinet’s approval of a $43.5 million contract to Tank-Weld Limited by the St. Elizabeth Parish Council.
This was announced by Minister with responsibility for Information, Telecommunications and Special Projects, Hon. Daryl Vaz, during Wednesday’s (October 19) post-Cabinet press briefing at Jamaica House.
The rehabilitation, he said, was deemed necessary after a site inspection was conducted by the Department of Local Government, which found that the facility was in “dire need of repair."
The contract was awarded on the recommendations of the National Contracts Commission and the Infrastructure Subcommittee.
