The Full Story

Cabinet has approved the award of a US$959,094 contract for the continued provision of consulting services for the compensation review for the Government of Jamaica.

The contract has been awarded to Ernst and Young Services Limited.

This was disclosed by Minister of Education, Youth and Information, Hon. Fayval Williams, during a virtual post-Cabinet press briefing on Wednesday (January 5).

The Government is seeking to implement the public sector compensation review, beginning April 1. The review is intended to overhaul the structure of salaries and other emoluments in the public service to make it more equitable.

In the meantime, Mrs. Williams informed that two, two-storey mini warehouses are to be constructed at the Garmex Free Zone (GFZ) Complex in Kingston.

This follows Cabinet’s approval of the award of a $338-million contract by the Factories Corporation of Jamaica to Tank-Weld Limited for the construction.

In addition, Cabinet approved the award of a $72.72-million contract to PricewaterhouseCoopers for the provision of external auditing services for the UDC and its subsidiaries for a period of three years ending March 31, 2023.
