The Full Story

Cabinet has approved a $34,400,000 contract to Golden Age Home Kitchen Limited, for the provision of catering services to the Vineyard Town Golden Age Home, in Kingston.

This disclosure was made by Minister with responsibility for Information, Telecommunications and Special Projects, Hon. Daryl Vaz, at the post-Cabinet press briefing, held at Jamaica House on February 23.

Providing details in the contract, the Minister said the rate will be $209.60 per resident per day, plus an additional $45 per meal for persons with special dietary needs at the home.

Mr. Vaz pointed out that the contract is expected to last for one year, commencing February 1, 2011, and will benefit 450 residents.

The home, which was opened in 1985, seeks to provide residential care and welfare services for senior citizens in Kingston and St. Andrew. It is the largest and only model of its kind in the Caribbean.
