Cabinet Approves $105 Million Contract for Airport Upgrading

Cabinet has approved the award of a $105.2 million contract to Pavement and Structures for the expansion of parking facilities and to undertake drain repairs at the Norman Manley International Airport.
Information and Development Minister, Senator Colin Campbell, speaking at yesterday’s (May 1) post-Cabinet press briefing at Jamaica House, said that the scope of work would include the expansion and rehabilitation of the main customer car park at the airport, as well as the installation of curb walls, chain link fencing, and road markings.
Further work will cover the cleaning, reshaping and removal of mangroves and shrubs, the execution of electrical works, construction of concrete culverts along the dual carriageway leading to the airport, as well as the construction of a paved open drain with all the necessary excavation and concrete works.
