Teen-age track and field sensation, Usain Bolt has been added to the growing list of world class athletes down to compete at the Reebok Grand Prix athletics meet in New York City on Saturday, June 11.
The 18 year-old 2002 World Junior champion and current World Junior record holder at 200 metres, is considered among the top two runners in the world over the distance.
He joins compatriot and Athens Olympics sprint queen, Veronica Campbell on the impressive roster for the meet at the new Icahn Stadium on Randall’s Island, just under the Triboro Bridge, linking the Bronx, Queens and Manhattan.
“New York City is delighted to host the Reebok Grand Prix and welcome many of the world’s finest athletes,” noted Kenneth J. Podziba, New York City Sports Commissioner.
The Reebok Grand Prix will mark the first full international meet at the new stadium and the fifth stop of the USA Track and Field Visa Championship Series.
