The Full Story

Jamaicans are being invited to participate in the inaugural ‘Love & Craft: Valentine’s Day at Artisan Village’, scheduled for Falmouth, Trelawny, on Friday, February 14, beginning at 6:00 p.m.

Director, Jamaica Centre of Tourism Innovation (JCTI), a division of the Tourism Enhancement Fund (TEF), Carol Rose Brown, told JIS News that, being a new attraction, the aim is to let persons know that they can visit the Village and have a good time.

“This is an activity we are doing for the first time, where we want Jamaicans to come out and enjoy the ambience of the space, enjoy some of the activities that are available to patrons, in terms of craft-making and, of course, food and drink and entertainment,” said Ms. Brown.

She informed that the event will feature three major craft-related workshops.

“One of them is paint and sip, which is guided by one of our Creatives, who will invite people in to have a glass of wine and practise their skills at painting. Then there is pottery-making, guided by one of our potters. He will help you make your first piece of clay pottery, and finally, we have a workshop for candle-making,” said Ms. Brown.

She further noted that the candle-making session will enable participants to make handcrafted and personalised scented candles.

Entry to the Artisan Village is free; however, there is a $5,000 fee for persons who wish to participate in the workshops.

Interested persons are being asked to register online at http://tinyurl.com/Love-and-Craft.

The registration link can also be accessed via the Artisan Village’s social media pages.

Additionally, a professional photographer will be on site to capture the moment by offering a Valentine-themed photography session for $3,000.

Ms. Brown also indicated that entertainment will be provided by the Artisan Village’s resident performance cast, along with a talented saxophonist, a singer, and a DJ, who will keep the energy alive throughout the evening.

The inaugural ‘Love & Craft: Valentine’s Day at Artisan Village’ will be held in Falmouth, Trelawny, on Friday, February 14 from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.

Patrons will also be able to experience the augmented virtual reality (AVR) games room.

“We truly [want] every person who loves craft, music and food to come to Falmouth on Friday. It is outdoor, under the stars and just a fantastic place to be,” said Ms. Brown.

The Artisan Village at Falmouth is a vibrant cultural and commercial hub, designed to celebrate Jamaica’s rich craftsmanship, artistry, and heritage.

Spearheaded by the TEF, this innovative attraction is strategically located at Gate 5 of the Port of Falmouth.

Officially opened to the public on April 19, 2024, it is the first of its kind in Jamaica and the region to incorporate a fully digital experience, featuring cutting-edge augmented reality and virtual reality technology.
