Appointment of Senior Officers in the Public Service

The Governor-General, acting on the advice of the Public Service Commission, has appointed Dr. Wesley Hughes, C.D., currently the Director-General of the Planning Institute of Jamaica (PIOJ), to the post of Financial Secretary; and Mrs. Hillary Alexander, currently Chief Technical Director (Public Sector Modernisation) in the Cabinet Office, to the post of Permanent Secretary, in the Ministry of Energy and Mining.
Dr. Hughes replaces Mrs. Sharon Crooks, who has been assigned to the World Bank as Advisor to the Executive Director, with specific responsibilities for the Caribbean. Mrs. Alexander replaces Mrs. Marcia Forbes, who has resigned.
Acting on the advice of the Prime Minister, the Governor-General has approved the assignment of Dr. Jean Dixon, C.D., currently Director-General in the Office of the Prime Minister, to the post of Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Health. She replaces Dr. Grace Allen-Young, who has proceeded on retirement.
The appointments and assignments take effect on September 1, 2009.
