Allied to Provide General Insurance for JUTC

Allied Insurance Brokers Limited is to provide general insurance services to the Jamaica Urban Transit Company (JUTC), for a three-year period from April 1, 2010 to March 31, 2013.
This was announced by Minister with responsibility for Information, Telecommunications and Special Projects, Hon. Daryl Vaz, at a post-Cabinet press briefing, held at Jamaica House on July 28.
The Minister informed that the net premium payable for 2010/11 would be $48.5 million, and that the broker would negotiate the premiums for 2011/12 and 2012/13.
Meanwhile, Mr. Vaz said that there has been an extension to existing group health contract coverage provided by Sagicor Jamaica Limited for PetroJam Limited’s employees and retirees for the period May 1, 2010 to April 30, 2011.
The Minister pointed out that the net premium payment to Sagicor had been increased from $50 million for the year 2009/10 to approximately $55 million for the contract year, May 1, 2010 to April 30, 2011.
