The Full Story

All Government of Jamaica Pensioners are invited to the Accountant General’s Department (AGD) Pensioners’ Forum 2017.

The event will be held at The Mico University College, 1a Marescaux Road, Kingston on Friday (November 17) from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.

Acting Director for Communications and Customer Relations, AGD, Taneisha Weir Grant, told JIS News that the forum, which is an initiative of Accountant General, Carlene Murdoch, will provide the pensioners with access to various benefits and services.

“When pensioners come into the AGD, we tend to get questions that are not necessarily for us but are related to what we do. So what we have done is try to get all (stakeholder agencies) at one place at one time that are able to answer all the queries that our customers have,” she explained.

“Everything that they would need to visit various entities for, they can actually get it on the day,” she added.

Among the participating entities are Sagicor; Tax Administration Jamaica (TAJ); Ministry of Finance and the Public Service; National Health Fund (NHF); First Heritage Cooperative Credit Union; Administrator General’s Department; Chas. E. Ramson; and Cari-Med.

Mrs. Weir Grant said that the organisations will provide on-spot services, including Tax Registration Number (TRN) and assisting with insurance queries.

The forum will also give the AGD an opportunity to get contact details of pensioners, including telephone numbers and email addresses, making it easier for the department to provide them with information on a timely basis.

The pensioners, in turn, will be able to meet their payroll officers and speak directly to the Accountant General.

They will also receive free health checks and foot detox and have the chance to win prizes.

There will be a writers’ corner, which will feature written and published works from pensioners.

“Pensioners will be entertained, they can come and lyme and meet and greet persons that they have not seen for some time,” Mrs. Weir Grant noted.

Pensioners unable to attend the forum can tune in to the live broadcast on Nationwide FM.
