In the meantime, the Governor-General said an additional 397 housing solutions and 49 infrastructure projects will be provided in Clarendon, St. Thomas, Trelawny, St. Catherine, St. Elizabeth, and Westmoreland under the Sugar Transformation Programme.

The Sugar Transformation Programme is a resettlement initiative that benefits sugar workers and their relatives, who have been living in old barracks located in sugar-dependent areas of the island.

The Throne Speech, titled ‘Partnership for Development: Inclusive Growth…Expanding Opportunities’, outlined the priority programmes and policies to be pursued by the Government during the new fiscal year, which begins on April 1.
