Newly elected Member of Parliament for Central Westmoreland, Dwayne Vaz, was sworn in on Tuesday, December 9, during a sitting of the House of Representatives.
After taking the Oath of Office, Mr. Vaz was welcomed by Prime Minister the Most Hon. Portia Simpson Miller, as well as other Members of Parliament on both sides of the House.
The businessman comes to Parliament after his victory in a by-election to fill the seat left vacant by the death of Minister of Agriculture and Fisheries, Hon. Roger Clarke.
In the by-election, held on December 1, Mr. Vaz defeated Faye Jacobs, who represented the Jamaica Labour Party.
