January 24, 2009

The Full Story

The remaining seven persons, who died in the December 19 road accident in the Rio Grande Valley in Portland, will be buried on Sunday (Jan. 25).
The funeral service will be held at the Mill Bank Community Centre in the parish, and among those expected to attend are Prime Minister, Bruce Golding and several ministers of government.
Those to be laid to rest on Sunday are: Winston Taylor, Althea Anderson, Renaldo Palmer, Cassandra Dyce, Beverly Bernard-McDonald, Carmen Leslie and Leroy Deans.
An inter-denominational committee, led by Rev. Dr. Marion Sutton, Rector of the Moore Town Cure of Anglican Churches, is arranging the service, while the logistics relating to the event are being handled by an organising committee consisting of community members and representatives of the families of the victims.
Head of the organising committee, Linneth Wilkes, told JIS News that every effort is being made to ensure that the service is conducted smoothly.
She said special work is being carried out to prepare the community centre for the event, adding that appropriate arrangements have also been put in place for seating, parking and the correct observation of protocol during the service.
Funerals have already been held for the other seven victims of the crash, with one person buried on January 15, while the other six were laid to rest on January 18.
