The Full Story
The Jamaican High Commission in London celebrated Jamaica Day 2014 with a series of activities for clients attending the Consular Department on February 28.
Activities included a ‘Knowledge of Jamaica Quiz’, which saw participants answering a series of questions on the geography, history, sports and culture of the country. Winners were presented with gift bags, courtesy of the Jamaica Tourist Board (JTB), and all participants received special prizes. The clients also enjoyed refreshment of bun and cheese and tropical fruit punch.
Celebrating Jamaica Day is one of the flagship projects of the Culture in Education Programme. It is intended to foster a greater spirit of patriotism and responsible citizenship. It is also a day when schools in Jamaica engage with their communities, and the nation as a whole, to mount a big celebration of Jamaica around a specific theme.
