Prime Minister, the Most Hon. Portia Simpson Miller, is scheduled to deliver the keynote address at the Jamaica Logistics Hub Symposium titled: ‘Transforming Jamaica’s Business Landscape,’ which opens on January 21, at the Jamaica Conference Centre, downtown Kingston.
The two-day event will bring together experts from the world’s leading logistics hubs, business leaders, and international funding agencies to share insights, provide clarity on related issues, present areas of concern, as well as discuss factors critical to the success of the hub initiative.
In addition, the symposium, which is largely targeted at Jamaican companies and investors, will explore the numerous business opportunities available with the anticipated logistics hub.
Among the presenters are Minister of Industry, Investment and Commerce, Hon. Anthony Hylton; President of the Jamaica Chamber of Commerce (JCC), Francis Kennedy; Director, Corporate Reform Strategy, World Bank, Sophie Sirtaine; Country Representative, Inter-American Development Bank (IDB), Therese Tirner-Jones; Director Policy & Coordination at Canada’s Atlantic Gateway Secretariat, Marianne Etter; and General Manager, Manzanillo International Terminal (MIT) Panama, Dr. Carlos Urillo.
The Jamaica Logistics Hub Symposium is being organised by the JCC and the Ministry of Industry, Investment and Commerce in association with JAMPRO and Jamaica Business Development Corporation (JBDC). It will be held from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. daily.
