The St. Thomas Police Youth Club Movement has launched what it is describing as a “bold and forward-thinking” podcast to amplify youth voices in the parish and strengthen community engagement.
Dubbed, Next Gen Talk, the podcast was launched on Saturday (March 21), at the Morant Bay Police Station.
Police Youth Club Coordinator for the St. Thomas Division and member of the Community Safety and Security Unit, Constable Roger Douglas, who hosted the event, said that “this programme is where the youth can let down their hair, be themselves, talk about issues that concern them and find out how the police youth club can help”.

Constable Douglas said that overall, the podcast is geared towards youth development, and aims to provide a dynamic platform where young people can openly share their perspectives, experiences and aspirations.
“We want youth to understand themselves and know that the police are here to assist them,” he emphasised.
In attendance were representatives from the HIV Prevention Unit in the Southeast Regional Health Authority and members from both the Yallahs and Morant Bay Police Youth Clubs.
They participated in a panel discussion led by Police Youth Club members, Ricardo Buckley, Daneila Morgan and Breanna Harrison, where critical issues affecting today’s youth were discussed.
Topics included youth interaction with the police, perspectives on what could be improved within the Jamaica Constabulary Force (JCF), the image and identity of young people in society, and the importance of discipline among students and youth.
The panellists made an appeal to other young people to become actively involved in the Police Youth Club movement as a pathway to growth, leadership, and positive transformation.
