The Full Story

Prime Minister, Dr. the Most Hon. Andrew Holness, says the Caymanas Special Economic Zone (CSEZ) project will generate hundreds of direct and indirect jobs for Jamaicans.

He said that the first phase will be developed over four years at a cost of $8 billion, covering 200 acres of the 700-acre property in St. Catherine.

“The CSEZ is Jamaica’s flagship logistics project. It is designed to complete Jamaica’s transition from a transshipment hub into a fully-fledged logistics centre for the region and beyond,” Dr. Holness noted.

He was making his contribution to the 2026/27 Budget Debate in the House of Representatives on Thursday (March 19).

The Port Authority of Jamaica-led logistics and industrial park, for which ground was broken in July 29, 2025, is aimed at establishing a premier global logistics hub in Jamaica.

Located near Kingston, it connects to port infrastructure to support manufacturing, technology, and trade.

Prime Minister Holness said the CSEZ will anchor the country’s entire logistics ecosystem.

He noted that the project, together with the Westlands Expansion Project at the Kingston Freeport Terminal and the Tinson Pen redevelopment in Clarendon “will assemble the largest block of near-port logistics lands in the region, placing Jamaica firmly on the path to fulfilling our national ambition of becoming the fourth global node in logistics, alongside Singapore, Dubai, and Rotterdam.”
