The Transport Authority (TA) plans to train approximately 275 employees annually to improve operational efficiency and service standards.
This is outlined in the 2026/27 Public Bodies Estimates of Revenue and Expenditure, tabled recently in the House of Representatives by Minister of Finance and the Public Service, Hon. Fayval Williams.
The document further notes that the Authority will be enhancing safety and security in the public passenger transportation sector by strengthening compliance through effective monitoring and enforcement activities.
“This will include leveraging electronic surveillance monitoring capabilities available through the national wide-area networks,” the document outlined.
The agency will also be improving monitoring and regulation of the public transportation sector. This includes strengthening the existing legislative framework to foster a more responsive, compliant, and accountable system.
“The Authority’s targets will be supported by the modernisation of its facilities with planned capital expenditure of $276.96 million to upgrade its Twickenham
Park and Southern Regional Pounds, along with the installation of renewable energy solutions at its Half-Way Tree and Corporate Offices,” the document stated.
The Transport Authority was established under the Transport Authority Act to regulate, license, and monitor public passenger transport across the island.
