Jamaica is currently tackling a leptospirosis outbreak. This means there has been an increase in cases of the disease on the island, especially in areas affected by Hurricane Melissa.
The government is therefore taking an all-hands-on deck approach to bring things under control.
Health and Wellness Minister Dr Christopher Tufton says the Ministry of Health and the Ministry of Local Government and Community Development have an agreement in place to commence clean-up activities in affected areas.
