Here’s what we know about Dr Orville Taylor.
Dr. Taylor heads of the Department of Sociology, Psychology and Social Work, in the Faculty of Social Sciences at the University of the West Indies, Mona.
He is a Senior Lecturer in Sociology at UWI, and the first PhD in Sociology from Florida International University.
He is nationally exhibited and awarded artist, (did you know that one?)
You probably know Dr Taylor as a provocative media personality… A writer who contributes a weekly column in the Sunday Gleaner…a member of the American Association of Black Sociologists, with contributions on race, the African Diaspora and labour studies…
Speaking of Labour Studies, he is an external collaborator with the International Labour Organization (ILO), and former Senior Director of Industrial Relations in the Ministry of Labour and Social Security in Jamaica. He is a specialist in international labour standards and internationally his country and regional reports are heavily referenced.
We do not have the time to address his numerous awards, but did you also know his origin story?
By his own admission, he owes it all to those who were there at the very beginning…
