Registration is now open for the fourth staging of the Public Sector Debate Competition.
Interested ministries, departments and agencies (MDAs) are being asked to complete the registration form via the Transformation Implementation Unit (TIU) website at www.publicsectortransformation.gov.jm.
The competition, scheduled to take place between April and July 2025, will engage teams in parliamentary-style debating on matters relating to public-sector transformation and current affairs.
Communication Lead, TIU, Anneke Clarke, told JIS News that the format of the debate has been modified to give teams more opportunity to debate.
“In this year’s staging, we have added another preliminary round to give each team the chance to play two matches before the knockout round. This will enrich the competition as well as the experience of participants, especially the first-time entrants,” said Ms. Clarke.
Registration for this year’s competition closes March 28, and cash and prizes valued at approximately $5 million are up for grabs.
The Public Sector Debate Competition is spearheaded by the TIU, in partnership with the Jamaican Association for Debating and Empowerment Limited (JADE).
