Director of Research at the Consumer Affairs Commission (CAC), Racquel White, is calling on consumers to participate in the organisation’s ongoing perception survey.
Speaking with JIS News recently, Ms. White said the survey is designed to gather consumer opinions on the Commission’s performance and guide the entity’s services and education efforts for the next four years.
“I know it is Christmas time and you are out there focused on shopping but take some time and speak to our officers as they collect data on your behalf,” the Director said.
The perception survey will also examine consumer attitudes and behaviours around online shopping, which is a rapidly growing area in Jamaica. The results are expected to be available early next year.
Ms. White said the initiative underscores the CAC’s mission of empowering Jamaican consumers to make informed choices in a competitive marketplace.
“The Consumer Affairs Commission is responsible for ensuring that consumers have adequate information to make informed choices,” she pointed out.
“We are in a free market and that is where we get our power. We have to meet our needs, but while we are doing so, we have to also preserve our resources so we can get the most out of our hard-earned funds,” Ms. White said.
