Labour Ministry Issues Scam Alert

The Ministry of Labour and Social Security advises all members of the public to be vigilant against messages circulating via text message (SMS) and on WhatsApp, informing recipients to apply online to this Ministry for a “NATIONAL ASSISTANCE FUND” from the Government of Jamaica.

These messages are false: there is no “NATIONAL ASSISTANCE FUND”.

If you receive such a message via SMS, email, or any other medium, please report it to the police immediately.

The Ministry is again cautioning all persons against sharing banking information or any other personal details via text message, internet links, or other similar means.

Persons who have concerns or who need information about any of the Ministry’s programmes are invited to contact us directly by calling the Customer Contact Centre at 876-922-8000-13 or by visiting the Ministry’s offices in their parishes.
